Manuel Mühlig received his diploma in computer science from the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany, in June 2008. His diploma thesis with the title "Task learning of bimanual object handling" investigated methods that allow a humanoid robot to learn new movement skills through imitation.

Subsequently, in June 2008, he joined the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab) as a Ph.D. student. His work focuses on interactive and goal-directed imitation learning approaches, and methods for learning suitable task representations.
