Research Project:
Sebastian Gieselmann received his diploma in applied informatics at University of Bielefeld in July 2008. In August 2008 he became a PhD Student in at the CoR-Lab. He works there in the "Hybrid Society"-Group of Britta Wrede. Furthermore he works as ASIMO-Operator to create and perform demos.
Sebastians research focus lies on making robots more social. To achieve this the goal is to design a social background behavior, which should make the robot more human-like without affecting the task of this robot. The main points in this work are:
- Detecting emotions of the interaction partner of the robot and react to this emotions
- Move the robot when the task doesn't make the robot move
- Giving the robot an emotional state so that the robot can become happy or angry.
This system will be designed and testes on Barthoc, but shall work on other robot systems, too.
His diploma thesis was about creating an information system to help people to recognise already seen persons more efficient by giving hints about where and with whom they have seen this person before. This system is integrated in an AR-Helmet and works unsupervised. To achieve a better face detection a Bayesian network is used to improve the detection by scanning the personal Bluetooth ID of every person.
